My Sweet Sister Sue
by Norma Waddell
When I was small, my mother was stricken with a serious
disease. As a result, she was unable to take care of me.
My big sister Sue took care of me, just as a mother would.
Although I don't remember this, I am told that I called
Sue "Mama". She was always so sweet.

However, when I was around eight years old, Sue met a
man named Lucian. Much to my dismay, they were married.
To my way of thinking, Lucian had stolen my Mama away
from me.

I did forgive him, though. I spent many enjoyable days with
them, as often as possible. As I grew older, we had some
very good times together. There were also the sad times.
As we took care of Dad, watched his health go down, and
then as he died; those were wonderful memories of her.
I know that she had faults, but right now, I can't remember
any of them.

When the Lord called Sue home, it was such a loss for me.
However, something happened at her funeral that gave
me peace in the midst of my sadness. Bro. Cooper brought
out his guitar and sang, "I've Never Been This Homesick
Before." After that, all I could think of was that she had
made it. God must have loved her so very much, to call
her home to be with Him.

Sue would have loved this family get-together today.
That is why I wanted to remember her and share this
story of a very beloved sister.
